We've had lots of different outings close to home, enjoying West Coast beauty: 
We rode our bikes from our home to Crystal Falls and did a bit of mountain biking to get there. The kids LOVED it!! 
It always amazes me when we visit a place of great beauty in Vancouver that we are seeing for the first time. This time it was Whytecliff park in West Vancouver.

This year we headed to the Ship to Shore festival in Steveston for Canada Day and enjoyed the annual parade and fireworks in Point Roberts for July 4th!

This year there was a bit of a "show-down" between the firefighters and the kids on the road! Water balloons, water guns and hoses!

After a couple of somewhat stressful, worrisome days of teacher striking we headed to the near-by park after dinner for a walk and bike-ride,
feeling the mild, summer air.

By the time we left, the sun had gotten brighter and then started to fade again behind the clouds as it went lower in the sky. Our only thoughts then were of the surprises from nature that we had noticed along the way.

This could easily have been one of the most gorgeous weekends so far this year. It was a full weekend with lots of kids' activities (carnival, Tae Kwon Do competition), gardening and yard work and time with friends and family. All the best things!
It was a Pro-D day at the younger kids' school today, so we took the opportunity to hike at a local lake. The weather was like early summer and the kids were so excited to scamper about and explore. Part of me wonders whether this kind of a day was even more educational than one spent in the classroom itself.
Still can't get over all the intense green at this time of year. A break from the rigour of daily routines, a sunny spring day and time with my kids=joy.
So nice to have some days off to spend with family, to enjoy spring and do a little garden and spring cleaning too. So happy that the weather was clearer than forecasted!
Daytrip to Pt. Roberts on Good Friday, and then our traditional Easter Egg hunt (the kids never get tired of it) and Easter dinner on Sunday. Hope you had a Happy Easter too!
August was filled with many an adventure even as the days grew somewhat cooler and cloudier,

And celebrations at home. I'm reflecting on a fun-filled summer with a leisurely schedule and lots of time with the kids as we head back into the routines of school and activities. Can't wait for next summer!
I just love summer in town or out of town:
Blueberry picking near our house in Port Coquitlam,
Megan had her own table to sell toys at the Pt. Roberts Art & Music festival,
getting henna done at the festival,
warm summer evenings for soccer, baseball,
biking,
and walking on the beach, with that glorious evening light,
ocean water,
fresh water,
and one of my favourites: flowers. Can't help it, I'm a summer girl!
